Our Next Race, Oct. 16th

We will be having a Single Point race to wrap up the season. The race fee will be for $10.  This will be a Single Point race that counts towards the District Points.  So come on out and have some fun with us while we end another race season.  We look forward to seeing some of our out of town guests to add to the excitment for the day.

But, there will still be more racing at our neighboring tracks of VMP and Hampton through November.  So follow our link to their site to find out about more racing action this season.

We look forward to seeing all of you for this special race.  We would like to thank everyone for helping us out on preparing the track and volunteering to run a position at last weeks race. Plus, everyone enjoyed having many riders to race from our visitors from Hampton.  It made for a great race and raising money for a good cause.

USA BMX memberships go into affect now. Please see us for a form that we need everyone to fill out at your next race. Also, please make sure to arrive a little early to allow time to enter in the information to the new program transition from NBL to USA BMX. Please call or email any of us if you have questions. Most everyone will be a renewal and just write in your existing 6 digit NBL #. If you just signed up and have a temporary membership, don't worry about providing a number just yet.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

We would like to invite everyone to celebrate with us the graduation of Marshall Higgins and Sara Puckett.  These 2 riders have been racing for many years and would like to have all their friends join them while they start their future endeavors.  We will have a quick gathering at the end of the Bob Warnicke race this Saturday.  If anyone would like to add to the celebration and know someone at the track that has graduated, please let us know by email.

Dear NBL Track Operator,

Let me first say that this is the start of a great partnership and the beginning of an exciting new era for the sport we all love so much.  Although we arrived at this turning point via two different paths, the track we’re on now—really the track we’ve been riding together all these years—is the same.  Doesn’t matter what bike we ride or what jersey we wear, we are all BMX racers.

Still, we realize that the big changes taking place in our sport have made for a confusing and challenging time, especially for you track operators who want and deserve answers for yourselves and your riders.   And still, we know that not everyone who steps up to your registration window will be immediately satisfied with our proposed solutions.  But please do know that we are committed to doing all that we can to help your track through this transition and to keep your riders racing, not for the good of any one sanction, but for the good of all us BMXers.

Although we at the ABA and the NBL have not finalized our agreement, we are working diligently to rake out the bumps and make USA BMX a reality.

Until that time—during this transitional period—please be aware that as of June 4, 2011, NBL tracks will not be paid the previously promised rate of $5.95 per rider.  NBL track operators should charge riders for all local racing.  Likewise, NBL track operators should only offer 30-day/$25.00 memberships to new and renewing members during this time.  All of this according to the NBL’s latest press release:
The NBL will conclude all free local racing on June 3, 2011 in anticipation of the upcoming transition.”  And “Beginning June 4, 2011, all Local NBL tracks will begin charging local race entry fees and may set prices for these entries at their discretion.”

So, what about those riders who paid for an annual NBL membership?

Upon our agreement with the NBL, USA BMX will issue class and cruiser memberships to those NBL annual members free of charge valid thru December 31, 2011.   For the remaining value of their NBL annual memberships, USA BMX will also issue vouchers that can be exchanged for racing at all NBL local, state, regional and national events.  These vouchers, in $1.00 and $5.00 increments, will be issued in an amount equal to the remaining balance of their respective memberships based on the following formula:

Base value of NBL Class & Cruiser Memberships @ $75.00  for both   +
No. of 2011 Local NBL Events raced X $5.95 per event   +
No. of 2011 Regional NBL Events raced X $50.00 per event   +
No. of 2011 National NBL Events raced X $60.00  per event   +
=
*Total NBL Annual Membership Allocated Fees.

*Subtracting a rider's Allocated Fees from their original NBL Annual Membership Fee will result in that rider's residual NBL membership value.

In short, a rider's NBL Annual Membership Fee minus the residual value of that membership as determined by applying the above formula to each rider's 2011 NBL race history thru June 3, 2011, equals the amount that rider will receive in USA BMX vouchers. If a rider's Allocated Fees exceed their original NBL Annual Membership Fee then there is no residual value and no USA BMX vouchers will be issued to that rider.

USABMX Voucher
While it is our goal to issue these vouchers as quickly as possible, implementation is expected to take two to three weeks.  During that time, after our agreement with the NBL has been finalized, riders will be required to pay for all local, state, regional and national racing until such time that they receive their USA BMX vouchers.  In turn, once a track has resumed paying its regular insurance and sanction fees, that track can pay its fees with the same USA BMX vouchers received.  As well, monthly or pay-as-you-go NBL members will then be required to purchase a new $45.00 USA BMX membership that will be valid for one year from the date of purchase.
Although we are continuing to iron out the details of this transition, we hope we have answered some of your many questions.  While many of you and your riders have valid concerns, we believe this addresses the outstanding membership issues in as fair and equitable a manner as possible.
We look forward to working with every one of you and meeting you at the races!  Together, we will make this a great time for USA BMX!

Best Regards,

B.A. Anderson

It was a pretty good day at Richmond BMX with nice weather and a good turn out to our Mother's Day race.  We had 11 motos. Each mom got to enjoy getting a flower from each of their racers.

We had another race of STRIDER motos. Yes, we had 2 returning kids eager to get on the track,  test out their riding skills and want to race for a trophy.  It was a funfilled event with the whole track cheering on these little ones as they pushed themselves along the track.  Below is some pictures provided by a photographer Omar Delgado.

Strider Sports

If your toddler can walk, your toddler CAN ride a Strider PREbike™. Skip the tricycle. Skip the training wheels. Go straight to riding on TWO wheels. The Strider™ balance bike helps toddlers learn balance and coordination BEFORE pedaling, which develops glittering confidence and amazing bike handling skills. So ditch the tricycle and training wheels, and teach your child to ride a bike sooner, better, and safer with a Strider™.

We will be conducting Strider races at our next upcoming race, May 1st and for the remainder of the season. We will have some on hand to borrow or to purchase for your younger kids.  Please see Luck for details.  To do Strider racing, it will require an unique NBL membership (at a lot lower cost than the standard membership).

Rules:

Must have long sleeve, long pants and a helmet (which can be a half shell).

Membership & Fees:

Annual NBL Membership is $25
